[Limited-Time Event] Catch Flying Ago (Flying Fish)! A Fishing Experience Anyone Can Enjoy Like a Game

Hello.
Today we'd like to introduce a limited event held from June to early July.

Ago (flying fish) are caught in the surrounding waters from May through September.
The peak fishing season lasts about a month, from June to early July, and during this time locals use a unique method that takes advantage of the fish's habits. It's called "Ago-sukui" (flying fish scooping).
First, around 9:00 p.m. when the sky has grown dark, a boat is rowed out to sea and lights are lit along its sides to draw the flying fish around the boat.
But flying fish are extremely quick: some dart swiftly through the water, while others, true to their name, fly a dozen meters or more through the air.
Scooping up these agile fish with a net about 50 cm across is what "Ago-sukui" is all about.

Flying fish are naturally drawn to bright light at night.
Using this habit, fishers row out onto the sea after nightfall, light lamps along the side of the boat to attract the fish, and scoop them up with hand nets. This is called Ago-sukui.
So that visitors can enjoy this fishing too, it is offered every June and July as a hands-on tourism experience.
