Founded in 1905 (Meiji 38), Mihokan is a ryokan in Mihonoseki, at the nature-rich eastern tip of the Shimane Peninsula.
Facing Mt. Daisen and Miho Bay and surrounded by sea and mountains, this quiet port town still carries on the history and culture of its ancient role as a hub of maritime traffic.
Mihokan wholeheartedly helps create memories that can only be made in Mihonoseki.
Staying in Mihonoseki, you naturally interact with local people: fishermen readying their boats to set out, the lady at the dried-goods shop hanging fish to dry, locals offering sightseeing guidance. The people of Mihonoseki are cheerful and friendly and will happily strike up a conversation. Being away from family and engaging with a local community helps foster independence and social skills
Nature and history nurture emotions and the heart. Mihonoseki is a fishing town rich in nature, surrounded by sea and mountains, where you can feel the power and wonder of nature. It is also home to Miho Shrine, whose long history is recorded in the Izumo Fudoki. By learning what religion means and taking part together, students gain an opportunity to reflect on life.
Located at the eastern tip of the ria-coast Shimane Peninsula, Mihonoseki is a compact town with only one way in and out. Even getting to the city takes some effort, but that very location makes it a safe place to live alongside trusted friends.
