Works by Koizumi Kiyoshi, third son of Lafcadio Hearn, now on display in the lobby!
The family of Lafcadio Hearn (Koizumi Yakumo) has been in the spotlight thanks to "Bakebake," now airing on NHK.
A painting of "Ji-no-Gozen" below Mihonoseki Lighthouse, by Hearn's third son, the painter Koizumi Kiyoshi, is now on display in the Mihokan lobby!
The subject of the work is "Ji-no-Gozen," which lies at the foot of Mihonoseki Lighthouse.
Hearn loved Mihonoseki and is said to have stayed here for extended periods on three occasions.
While retracing his father's footsteps, Kiyoshi also stayed at Mihokan and left several works here.
One of them, depicting passing ships and Mt. Daisen as seen from the Main Building, has been adopted for the design of Mihokan's chopstick sleeves.
