National Registered Intangible Cultural Property Miho Hall Main Building

美保館本館イメージ

The main building of the Maboukan was built in 1905, and completed in 1908. It was registered as a National Important Cultural Property in 2004. Today, the fixtures and lighting are still made from the original materials, and the nostalgic black telephone is still in use. As a venue for breakfast for guests staying at the hotel, and as a stage for banquets and meetings, it continues to welcome guests even today after over a hundred years of history. To convey the essence of the old and good times to the present and to pass them on to the future... that is our mission, to pass on history and culture to future generations.

Breakfast

Fresh specialties from the morning: sashimi of high-quality white squid caught off the Shimane coast (kenzushi), and miso soup with plenty of the delicious flavor of Shodoshima oysters. In winter, we serve miso soup made with the broth from the sekoi crab (the adult crab). In this local dish, the sekoi crab is more flavorful than the Matsuba crab! The thick sauce and the bright orange inner shell and crispy outer shell are a real treat. The sekoi crab is also half-cooked in the soup! *Seiko crab is available only during the winter. Also, since the fishing season for Matsuba crab is shorter, we are unable to serve it during that period. Breakfast is served in the spacious hall of the main building, which exudes the atmosphere of a bygone era. The main building is more than a hundred years old and is registered as a National Important Cultural Property. Enjoy your breakfast amidst the magnificent architecture of the Taisho-era and the beautiful view of Osumi Bay and Mount Oyamazuma (Osumi Daikan).
